Back in April, Ikea introduced Home Tour.  They send out a team of designers to help homeowners across the country with design challenges.  The team decorates the homes using items from Ikea.  These five Ikea members, known as the Home Tour Squad, travel from city to city using their design expertise to help restyle and transform homes.  They evaluate a home's needs, implement a plan, and get to work changing the look of the space.

At each home, they record video of the process, give design advice, and give background interviews with the homeowners.  Like most people, I love seeing before and afters.

This family room is from a family in New Jersey.  Their space was a catch all space and they needed help.  The squad turned their room into a place where the family could hang out together.

They used pieces like the Ektorp sofa, Strandmon armchair, and Besta cabinets for storage.  The room looks so much more open now.  The once cluttered workspace is now a stylish place to work.

Here's a bedroom from a couple that needed help in the bedroom (not like that).  Their room was the last to be decorated and they didn't know where to start.  Their bedroom was a mix of furniture from before they were married.  The squad gave them a serene bedroom they could come to at the end of the day.

They already had pretty blue walls but that was about it.  Some new furniture pieces include the Hemnes dressers as nightstands, Linblomma bedding, and Sultan storage bed.  For closet space, they now have the Pax wardrobes.  The lighter pieces brighten up the room.

Look at all the clothes they can store now!  I love the drawers for folded items and compartments for smaller accessories like belts and jewelry.

Here's a small 300 square foot condo owned by a young man and his partner.  It needed storage since all their belongings were in such a small space.  He already owned the Brimnes bed which has storage drawers underneath.

They added the Pax and Besta units around the bed for more storage and used Lack shelves as nightstands.  I love the black, white, and gray with the pops of red.  The bed is now the focal point and the shelves allow showcasing of other smaller items.

The Bjursta table works double duty.  It is used as a desk but also pulls out to use for dining.

These spaces look 100% better.  I think Ikea is trying to show us that their products can look good and function in any room.  Sometimes you have to re-evaluate your space and ask yourself what you really need.  The families here obviously needed more storage and a few new pieces to re-vamp their spaces.

Anyone submit videos to be on the Ikea Home Tour?
