Greek Key Pillow

The new chair in the family room was looking pretty lonely.  It didn't have a pillow friend to play with.  It was time to do something about it.  I thought about finding some fabric to make a pillow cover but then decided I didn't feel like doing it.  I started searching Etsy for a great print that I thought would mesh well with the other pillows.  This greek key pattern kept popping up.  I liked it so I went with it.  The hard part was choosing a color.  I saw blue and white, red and white, but ended up going with this brown and natural from this shop

I love the pattern.

The square pattern was meant for this square chair.  Now my chair isn't so lonely.

Etsy had so many options to choose from.  I saw several that I want to order for the master bedroom.  Where do you shop for your pillows?  Ever consider Etsy?

Cool & Breezy...

I'm having one of those nights where I'm sitting in my chair and I'm too tired to get up to get myself to bed... hahaha.  I think moving is a lot like having a baby - you forget how hard it is!  Once the baby is here the rewards are huge, very much like moving into a new home.
These images of Kara Rosenlund's home are cool, breezy, cozy and perfectly delightful;  that tub is definitely calling my name!

... off to bed

Finally Done!

I'm sorry I have been distant for the past week - we finally moved into our new home and I've been busy lifting and opening!  Once everything is in its place and there aren't piles of boxes blocking hallways - I'll be able to show you some images of our new home!
In the mean time - here are some images of a fun transitional home:

I love the rustic combined with the clean... it makes for a more unpredictable feel!

Best wishes everyone!

The Plant Basket

Remember when I told you about scoring a great basket in Target that was similar to the West Elm version?  Well I finally bought a plant for it.  I was walking though Lowes and it grabbed my attention.  After looking through several rows of plants, I decided on this one.

It's a yucca cane.  I wanted something tall but nothing that would look enormous in the basket.  I could have gone for bigger but didn't want to spend a fortune on a plant.  Yucca cane doesn't take a lot to care for so I thought it was perfect.  I water it about once a week to keep the soil moist and it needs 3-4 hours of sunlight.  The downstairs gets plenty of sun during the day.  I didn't want a plant that would require me to devote extra time to it.  The outside plants and flowers are already sucking up enough.

It adds a much needed breath of life in the family room.  I need to start adding more plants throughout the house.

A side by side comparison

Do you love having house plants or are they too much hassle for you?

Monogram Chevron Tray

I've had this tray sitting on the kitchen counter for the last year.

On it was a couple cookbooks and the painted Ikea pot.  You can see I covered the inside with scrapbook paper that's now rolling at the corners.  I was cleaning the counters, bumped into this guy and decided it was time for him to get a little makeover.

I gave him a few coats of blue spray paint.  I had some chevron scrapbook paper laying around.  I cut it to the dimensions of the inside of the tray and adhered is using mod podge.  After that layer dried, I put on a monogram.  I had a wooden "W" in my stash.  I traced it onto red scrapbook paper, cut it out, and mod podged it on top of the chevron.

Now my tray has a new look.

White Bedding

I've noticed in my search for bedroom inspiration, a lot of the photos have white bedding.  I used to not like it, but I find that I am almost drawn to it now.  The white makes the room feel bright and clean.  I think if the bedding is a blank slate, there are more places around the room like pillows, curtains, and throws where you can add more colors and patterns.

I'm on the hunt for some nice bedding.  Don't know if I'm going white or something patterned.  Do you have any good bedding sources for me?

The Paint's On The Wall

I finally chose a paint color for our master bedroom.  It took me a while to narrow it down from about 50 choices.  I teetered between beige, gray, and blue.  The winning color was Olympic One Tightrope.  It's a light griege.  I was a little unsure when we started rolling it on because I thought it looked purple, but it dried a nice color.  I must say it is lighter than the paint chip though.  Much lighter than what I was going for but it works.

I found this metal wall art at TJ Maxx.  I like it but may make a slight change to it.  I bought it for another room but it ended up here.

Now that the wall color has changed, I definitely need to get on finding new bedding.  Something a little softer.  You can also see the lamp shades still have the plastic on them.  I bought these at Target but still haven't decided if I'm going to keep them.

Since we were moving furniture around, we decided to put the dresser in front of the bed.  We removed the mirror and placed the television on top.  The cable box and other stuff are under the dresser so they wouldn't crowd the top.

The television will probably end up mounted on the wall.  Maybe even a photo gallery around it?

Now that this side of the room is clear of the dresser, we can focus on more furniture to turn this into a proper sitting area.

This picture is a little more of the true color.

So glad this step is over with.  My back and legs ache.  Painting is so worth it once you see the after though.  The room feels more open with the new color.  Hubby even said the room has more character already.  Can't wait to find pieces for this room.

Exploring The Possibilities!

One of the reasons I'm so drawn to traveling, is coming across the unexpected!
I love stumbling across the perfect hidden store, or finding a new favorite place to eat with family and friends.
Ask anyone... I'm obsessed with learning about people's talents and what intrigues them; to me this is what life is all about!  Lifting and enlightening one another with our gifts and talents!

Nicole Franzen is the amazing photographer who took these images, she is the perfect example of someone who shares their gifts to lift and make others happy!  Who would of thought something as simple as a photo could make one want to life a more fulfilled life!  She has done this for me!

Life's short... explore the possibilities!
